The locking of the additional gates leading from the High Road into the park has started well, with a reduction in littering and anti-social behaviour already being noted.
The Friends Group have tidied the copse area between the bowls green and the children’s playground and are continuing with regular litter picking throughout the summer months, meeting at 10.00am on Sundays (with the exception of this Sunday 16th June, when the Dog Show will be taking place from midday). More volunteers to help with these tasks in the park are always very welcome.
Plans are going ahead with the Council regarding the café and the creation of the pergola and landscaped and sensory garden areas. New gardening equipment will be purchased, and a large number of sturdy tables and a new sound system have already been purchased. All of this, we are sure, will help with the ongoing work and prove very useful at future events.
CAN YOU HELP?
The Friends are still very keen to hear from anyone who has an insight into the history of Harrow Weald, and we are particularly interested in receiving any relevant photographs or stories that you are happy to donate, or allow us to share.
Volunteers who will be able to collate and scan photographs and articles are still required, so, if you can help us with either of these requests, please email us, or call: 07749 155711
Perhaps you could help us by volunteering to lock and unlock the gates to the park. This would be particularly helpful when the existing volunteers are away, or are unable to fulfil this daily task. Gate management is a really important factor in keeping the park safe and tidy and any help that you can give would be very much appreciated and is a big factor in improving our area.
